Meet The Co-Hosts

Joe Bianca

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Joe's first experience with racing came in Middle School when the father of one of his friends would make bets for them on the Kentucky Derby. Eventually, he decided to try it on his own and hit the trifecta for $600 as another New York-bred, the beloved Funny Cide, streaked across the wire first at 12-1 in the 2003 Derby. That was all the money in the world to a 16-year-old kid, and he was hooked. That summer, he taught himself how to read the Racing Form and has continued to follow that passion ever since.

After graduating from Long Island University-Brooklyn with a degree in journalism, Joe took an internship with CBS Sports, which eventually grew into a full-time position, where he assisted on broadcasts of the NFL, March Madness, the PGA Tour, etc. Continuing to write on the side as a blogger and handicapper, he got his first foot in the door of the racing industry when joining Thoroughbred Daily News as a writer and editor in 2016.

Producing hundreds of features on owners, trainers, jockeys, jockey agents, consignors and more, Joe also hosted the TDN Writers' Room, a roundtable discussion on the issues of the day in racing featuring the sport's biggest names and newsmakers. Helping grow it into one of the most prominent podcasts in the business, Joe went on to host an additional one-on-one conversation show with prominent handicappers called Bettor Things. In January 2021, he had the honor of receiving an Eclipse Award in the Multimedia category for an ode to my city during the height of the pandemic called “To Hell and Back: Belmont Marks a Deserved Triumph for New York City.”

In January of 2023, Joe moved from covering racing to participating in it and accepted a position with West Point Thoroughbreds, the leading ownership syndicate in the racing world, as an ownership advisor. You can now find him regularly in the paddock (and hopefully the winner's circle) at Belmont, Aqueduct and Saratoga, working closely with West Point partners and some of the most prominent trainers and jockeys in the world.
