Rail Talk Episode 141: CAWs and Effect

This week on Rail Talk! Joe Bianca and Jon Green react to an action-packed opening weekend at Saratoga, which included shockingly overlaid winners in the Belmont Oaks and Derby, an inexcusable delay after the horses hit the wire in the Kelso, a scary spill in the Wild Applause that everyone walked away mostly unscathed from, and most significant of all: an uptick in handle despite a massive decline in CAW betting. Unfortunately the overall handle numbers for the year aren’t as positive, and the boys discuss what the continued deterioration of wagering from the first half of 2026 means for the future, as well as the continued problem of too much racing for too few horses. They also give their analysis of upcoming starters for the home teams of West Point and DJ Stable as the summer action starts to heat up.
